Pumpkin Carving!

"I am the shadow on the moon at night, filling your dreams to the brim with fright!" - The Nightmare Before Christmas
 BOO!
When I was younger Halloween was wonderful, free sweets! Who wouldn't think it was wonderful! But since being slightly older it seems to be frowned upon if I was to go trick or treating.. So here is my alternative for any fellow non trick or treaters (and also for those annual pumpkin carvers)!
What you will need:
  1. Pumpkin - Big or small, I find pumpkins are usually cheapest at local supermarkets!
  2. Template - I am using the face of Jack Skellington, one of my favourite creepy Disney characters from 'The Nightmare Before Christmas'. If you are stuck for ideas I found Google images super helpful, bursting with varieties of pumpkin wonders.
  3. Tealight candles - Battery powered tealight's are also effective, these can be found in supermarkets and pound shops!
  4. Sharp knife - For carving your design. Be super careful when handling the knife, make sure a parent/ guardian is always on guard for a helping hand!
  5. Metal spoon - For scooping out the pumpkin!
  6. A bowl - Handy place to keep all the excess scoop!
  7. Permanent pen - For drawing on your desired pattern/ face/ etc!
Step 1.
1. Carefully using a sharp knife, begin to cut around the top of your pumpkin.
2. When cutting the lid on your pumpkin, cut at an angle, this will mean the lid won't fall through!
3. Pull off the lid/ top of your pumpkin, it should look a little grim like this..

Step 2.
Have your bowl and metal spoon at the ready! It's time to start scooping out the insides of your pumpkin. You should be greeted by plenty of pips and weird stringy pumpkin-ness. Scoop, scoop, scoop until your pumpkin is completely empty!

Step 3.
It's then time to start drawing on your chosen design. I'm going for the 'Jack Skellington' face but you can do something even more crazy and creative! Permanent pens are great for drawing on the template, no smudges, wonderful!

Step 4.
Being super careful using your knife, begin to carve your pumpkin - woohoo! Does anybody else find this strangely therapeutic? Hmm.. Chilled pumpkin vibes..
After I carved each of the parts on my pumpkin, I then went back and tidied up the edges so the black mark lines were no longer visible!

Step 5.
MWAHAHA! Complete-o! All that's left to do now is drop in a lit tealight candle, place on your doorstep and wait for the trick or treaters!
If you're carving a pumpkin this year, be sure to share your pictures with me on Twitter (click here)!
I'd love to see your creations!

If you don't fancy carving a pumpkin this year but still want to join in the Halloween spirit, then why not turn it into cake! Here is a fun and easy recipe I found to avoid putting your pumpkin to waste. Why not create a Halloween Pumpkin Cake! You could also make soup, pie, smoothies etc, etc! It's endless pumpkin fun.

Have a 'spooktacular' Halloween, scare yourselves silly!
Eat lots of sweets and be aware of the Boogeyman....

With lots of spooky love,

Autumn-ness, brrr!

"When Autumn leaves start to fall.."
Take a wonder from what you're doing, escape and explore the seasons change! It's my favourite time of year, the colours are practically edible and the layers keep layering as we slowly approach Christmas (eek!) It's important to breakaway from routine, admire the simple things in life and keep happy.

I've collected these images from Tumblr, something to feast your eyes on to get into the autumn spirit! I hope you're all having a warm-ish start to the weather change so far, the gloves and scarves have well and truly returned as saviour clothing items!

Without a doubt one of the best things is listening to your favourite songs, drinking tea/ coffee/ hot chocolate and being all cosy and appreciative. Indulge your ear drums into this wondrous music:

'Bon Iver - Towers'

Favourite, favourite, favourite song at the moment, it just never gets old! Also find myself escaping to: Ben Howard,  The 1975, Birdy, Gabrielle Aplin, Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, Haim, Daughter, John Mayer (AHH, and the list is endless...) What song makes you feel all 'fuzzy' and warm?

There we go, I just had to mention my love for all the autumnal changes, do you also have a love for this time of year?! It's almost Halloween too, this year has gone super, super quick, ahh! Keep an eye out for my 'spooky' tutorial coming soon!

Feel inspired during these seasons, make friends with a sheep? A book? A song!

My Spanish Wonders..

"The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing." - Walt Disney
During the Summer I travelled to Spain with my family for a holiday get-awaaay! I've been going to Spain my whole life, my Nan and Grandad have had a place there for over 25 years! Spain holds so many family memories and I always look forward to escaping there!

I wanted to share parts of my adventure in pictures, I hope you all had lovely holidays, the sun has been wonderful but now Winter is arriving AHH.. So excited to wear lots of layers and hopefully snow will fall! When is your favourite time of the year?

My holiday adventure in photographs.. Enjoy :)!

Jingly anklets and Watermelon, holiday must-haves!

Do you have a favourite place to read? Here's mine! A beautiful church 'Bil Bil' that overlooks the sea, also shown in the picture below from our view!

This is the view from my Nan and Grandad's place, waking up to this will never get old!

'Tuti-Fruiti' Smurfs ice-cream from the Port is just, ah, tastes like wonderland. (Thanks Dad!)

(How cute are these handmade keyrings! I bought the Peter Pan one, can you spot him..?)
In one of my past posts I mentioned how I venture into many markets and gift shops, to much of my brothers hatred for them haha.. So yeah my time is usually spent shopping for glorious things! Spain markets are full of everything, they seem to weirdly interest me way too much..

Holiday nails..
I am still in the process of creating my 'Nail Art' post, but here's a sneak peak.. Before I left for Spain I painted on some dainty flowers, halfway through the holiday I fancied a change and went for a bold multi-coloured leopard print! Gotta' be loving bold nails during the Summer :).

Cool hideout? I think so!
There is this huuuge park right by where we stay, it's so so beautiful and has amazing plants and trees and waterfalls! Amongst all this are some random heads? Not entirely sure why, but I thought I'd sit on one anyway..

Whats a park without a gym? Huuuh! Parsons family in action...

Shopping..
I adore, adore, adore these shops in Spain called '100% Shopping' and 'Andy Craft' I have been wondering in them for years, they sell all kinds of trinkets, jewellery, rings, bags, Buddha's, and my favourites, dream catchers!
Kayla and myself!
I also love going to Spain as we get to be reunited with our friends who live there! I've known Kayla since she was born, and her parents for as long as I remember. It's pretty cool as I'm the only girl in my family as all my cousins (and brother) are boys, so it's kind of like having a little sister!

Me being awkward..

I hope you enjoyed these little photographs I took whilst exploring/ holidaying. Spain is one of my favourite places in the world, I'm super lucky to have a family who have created lovely memories for me here.

Where is your favourite place to escape to :)?
Thank you for hopping onto my blog, and I hope to see you soon.

(No holiday is complete without writing in the sand!)

With love, Charlotte
